Questions?
We have answers.
1. General questions
Is there a KERBHOLZ shop?

Our products are not available from any Kerbholz shop, but you can buy them from many other retailers. You can find a list of retailers under ‘Retailers’ in our online shop. We are trying to organise a few pop-up shops with all of our Kerbholz products over the course of the year. The full details are available in our newsletter and on our Facebook page.

I have a shop and am interested in your wooden watches and sunglasses.

We are always happy to hear about interest in our products. Adrian handles our correspondence with retailers and can be reached at his email address: Adrian@kerbholz.com

2. Questions about payment methods, shipping and returns
How can I pay for my Kerbholz watch or sunglasses?

You can pay for our Kerbholz products quickly and easily with PayPal or by credit card (Visa, Mastercard)

How does shipping work?

Once you have placed your order, we will send you a confirmation email followed by a dispatch confirmation containing a tracking number when we ship your product. Shipping is generally free within the EU – outside of the EU, we charge a fixed price for shipping that is specified during the order process depending on the non-EU country in question. Please note that shipments outside of the EU may be subject to additional customs duties, taxes, and fees, which you will have to pay. For example, you can find more information on customs at: Taxation
Here is a link to the shipping costs: shipping costs

How do you ship orders?

To ensure that you receive your Kerbholz product quickly and without any fuss, we ship our products via DHL GoGreen as soon as we receive your payment. Unfortunately, we cannot deliver to pick-up points.

Do you offer returns and replacements?

The cost of return will not be refunded. We at KERBHOLZ work to contribute to climate protection and to avoid unnecessarily adding to CO2 emissions- which is why we want to keep the number of returns as low as possible.

You can find all of the necessary information here

3. Social commitment
What reforestation projects do you support and what else do you do?

Kerbholz supports PrimaKlima E.V. In collaboration with the indigenous population in San Juan Del Sur, PrimaKlima E.V. runs the Kerbholz mixed forest reforestation project. We also support a range of social projects such as L’Appel, which helps refugees in Germany.

4. Questions about Kerbholz products
Are the models available in different sizes?

All Kerbholz watches and glasses are unisex. The glasses are one-size-fits-all as the spring hinges allow the glasses to sit comfortably on almost every head. The watches can be adjusted to fit every wrist. You can have a watchmaker add or remove as many of the extra links included in the box as you like. If you would rather do it yourself, please contact our customer support team under their email address: fraguns@kerbholz.comPlease keep the extra links so you can replace any link in the watch that becomes damaged. The measurements of the individual models are available in the product information on our homepage.

How much does the grain differ from the grain in the pictures?

Wood is a natural product and every tree is unique. Therefore, every watch and pair of glasses naturally differs in terms of grain and colouration.

How will my Kerbholz fare in rain and water?

All Kerbholz products are coated with a light, clear natural varnish that is resistant to sweat. The treatment makes the wooden glasses and watches stable and weather-resistant. Nevertheless, wood is a natural product, so some things have to be taken into account. After frequent contact with salt water and the sun (e.g. in the sea), the wood of your watch or glasses should be treated with beeswax in order to preserve its colour and natural resistance. Water splashes are not generally a problem for Kerbholz watches, although you should avoid contact with water as a rule. Our watches are not waterproof.

How can I maintain my Kerbholz product?

Wood is a living material: Kerbholz watches and glasses are exposed to natural environmental influences, such as sweat and water, which give them their own unique touch. However, it doesn’t hurt to treat your Kerbholz glasses or watch with beeswax now and again and to follow the care instructions on the box. Under no circumstances should you allow your product to come into contact with solvents or alcohol. Additionally, please note that dirty cleaning cloths might damage the filter effectiveness of sunglasses.

How can I adjust my Kerbholz product?

Glasses: All of our glasses, with the exception of our stone glasses, have adjustable acetate frames. These can be heated and adapted to suit the shape of your head by any optician. Please have an optician make these adjustments. Opticians have the necessary experience and technical equipment.
Watches: If you want to adjust the length of the bracelet of your Kerbholz watch, please visit a specialist. Every jeweller or watchmaker can do this for you in under five minutes. It is important that you only use original accessories when adjusting your watch. These are included in the box. If you have lost them, you can order more from our shop.

What kind of glass do you use in your wooden glasses?

All of our sunglasses are supplied to us by the manufacturer Carl Zeiss Vision with UV 400, tint category 3 lenses.

Is it possible to use corrective lenses in your wooden glasses?

Thanks to our sophisticated lamination process which combines numerous layers of extremely thin wood veneer, our wooden glasses are flexible yet stable, which makes it possible for any optician to adjust them to suit your vision and head. Corrective lenses, including ground lenses, are not available directly from the shop.

What is the best way to store my Kerbholz product?

Due to their natural materials, all Kerbholz products should be stored in a dry place at temperatures between –10°C and 30°C. You should always store your Kerbholz glasses in a shockproof case.

Can I have my product repaired?

If your Kerbholz product does not work the way you want it to, do not hesitate to contact us. Please contact our customer support team, including a photo of the problem, at:support@kerbholz.com (We handle each case individually and check whether or not the damage can be repaired by our repair service.)

Are Kerbholz products fully vegan?

With the exception of genuine leather straps, all Kerbholz products are fully vegan.

I have allergies. Do Kerbholz products contain nickel or copper?

Kerbholz products are generally well-suited to people with allergies. If you have any questions about the materials used to manufacture our products, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always happy to help:support@kerbholz.com

5. Production
Where exactly are your products manufactured?

In China. The leather straps are made in Germany and Madagascar. Selected special editions of watches and glasses are manufactured in Germany. These are clearly labelled ‘Made in Germany’.

Are your watches and glasses manufactured under fair working conditions?

Yes, of course. We regularly inspect all of our production facilities in person. The production facilities are SA8000 certified. This means no low-wage work, and a safe and healthy working environment.

Where do you source the wood used to manufacture Kerbholz watches and glasses? Is it FSC certified?

The wood is largely sourced from Asia and Africa. All wood used in the glasses is certified; only the maple wood (from Canada) is currently certified in the watches. As a rule, we do not use any endangered species of wood. The wood terms we give our products are artistic names, i.e. they do not correspond to the correct botanical terms for the wood species.

Why don’t you use the FSC logo?

As our manufacturer also processes non-FSC-certified wood FOR OTHER companies, they are not authorised to use the logo. As the certification must be seamless, we are also not authorised to use the logo as a consequence.
